Road Trippin'

We had a crazy/fun month of July.
Two weddings.
Time with some of our dearest friends.
And lots of time surrounded by our precious family.

In order to get to all this fabulousness
we logged over 1,500 milles on the open road!
Some of those miles were spent driving through
beautiful Wisconsin farm country!

The big sky,
working farms
and classic red barns
fiiled our drive with loveliness!

Good thing we love long drives
with great play lists,
postcard worthy photo ops,
and hours and hours of talk time.

Six Word Fridays ~ Fly

Today's the day we fly away.
There's another summer wedding this weekend...
in the middle of Wisconsin's cornfields.
Then it's off to beautiful Oregon.

Today's the day we fly away.
For two whole, long, wonderful weeks.

And I've made a big decision.
The laptop is not joining me.
That's right. Not. Bringing. The. Computer.

In the {almost} five years since
I started this blog, I've not
taken a break. So it's time.
I'll be back for six words
and black and white Wednesdays the
first week of August. Until then
you'll find me on Instagram @scrapbookmom17...

...or with a book, or at
the lake, or taking a nap.

Don't worry....You'll see all the
Oregon loveliness when we get home!

Sabbaday Falls

I've grown to love these little brown signs. I see the hikers and know that a pleasant journey is just ahead of me. Through the woods, beside a river...whatever nature has in store, whatever the season, I've learned that I won't be disappointed by all that there is to discover along the trail.

As we walked back down this trail last weekend, I noticed these small rocks that someone had balanced atop a larger boulder in the midst of the rushing water. I snapped a photo because I thought... this is how these walks make me feel. My feet take my body AND my soul on a journey when I hike. Not only am I physically strengthened and rewarded, but my inner self seems led out of the faster pace of a life rushing on by and towards peace and balance.

Truth be told, it's this inner journey that draws me back to the woods over and over again.

C'mon Boots, Let's Go!

"These boots are made for walking,
and that's just what they'll do...."

"Are you ready boots?
Start walking."
{Nancy Sinatra}

Mr. Thorough and Mrs. Can-We-Just-Be-Finished-Now walk into a store. It's time to buy the Mrs. some hiking boots. Looks like this hobby they've discovered as a couple is a keeper. And hiking in sneakers isn't cutting it anymore. She keeps trying on the different pairs and sizes he brings - trying not to show her impatience - knowing she'll end up with a better boot if she trusts Mr. Thorough. A choice and a purchase were made - and the new hiking boots were broken in this weekend in NH!

If you didn't guess, that's us. The mis-matched shopping couple. I ended up just tickled pink with my new hiking boots! What a treat to see the waterfalls, trails and ponds that we discovered this weekend... Not only were my new boots made for walking, but I think this soul of mine was made for walking too. It feels so good to be out and about sharing this fun with my husband after this extra-long winter we've had!

And in the completely random category....
My son was on the local news because the bar he manages was showing 'that' fight...
He's the one that got an ultra-close-up for his few seconds of fame!

Disney Throwback ~ aka Getting Nostalgic on a Thursday

Her first trip to Disney was in Florida in 1990.

After that, it was all about Euro Disney...cause we lived in Paris
and the Magic Kingdom was only a 45 minute train ride from our front door!

We went when the grandparents visited!

And when we wanted special family time.

We loved the characters, rides, parades and restaurants....we loved it all!!

This sweet girl especially loved all the shows.
We watched them over and over.
So, it's no surprise that she's enjoying the vacation of her dreams this week!

She's been dreaming of Disney with her husband for years!
And this is their week.
They're having a blast!!

Six Word Fridays ~ Mirror

Mirror, mirror on that wall, what
image is clearer than all? When
I look deeply into my eyes,
do I see truth? Or focus
on lies? Do I see junk
and clutter and dust...the trash
that's unsettled or lost or unjust?
Or do I see treasure and
moments divine that add up to
now, this life that's all mine?

The past is so tricky, it
can't be undone - or changed or
recaptured or ever respun. Yet still
I have power to choose what
I see - the trash or the
treasure - when I look at me!

Farms & Ranches & Live Stock...Oh My!

Six Word Fridays ~ Short

For one short moment I stood
by a stream and imagined the
life I'd live in this dream.
