one of my new favorite things...

I love snail mail.
Don't you?!

This summer I discovered an app that I absolutely ADORE!!

It's called "Ink Cards"
and to test it out I sent a few to myself!
Paper quality? OUTSTANDING!
Photo quality? EXCELLENT!
Embossed envelope? SO FUN!

These can be sent as a postcard, or you can "upgrade" to an envelope.
Total for card, envelope and mailing you ask?
$4.98
Again - let me just say - OUTSTANDING quality!

In this shot you can see the texture of the card stock used.
And there's lots of space for you to compose a personal message.

Hope you enjoy this app ~ I know I sure have!!

{this is NOT a sponsored post...just me, sharing my discovery with you!}

Drive By...

Fall has been very good to us this year!
We've had brilliant color that's lasted for weeks....
and I've really enjoyed it!

Most afternoons, I spend between two and three hours in my car!
Work errands ~ often the same route over and over again.
So the changing scenery has turned into a real job perk!

Sometimes,
when stopped at a red light,
I just can't help but snap a foliage picture!
Most of them aren't really any good,
but it just seems that anywhere I turn ~
even if it's just a random highway overpass fence robed in yellow ~
autumn is showing off and I "need" to snap a pic!

The bold colors are fading.
But it's fun to sit at a red light and watch the leaves fall
and dance on the breeze!

Every once in a while,
a "drive by" turns into a "stop by" ...
I drove by this scene for several days before I finally couldn't resist any more!
For a few minutes of fun,
I parked, hopped out, and snapped a few photos of what might be the prettiest fall driveway around.

Sigh.
Still enjoying some last gasps of color...
but fall I will miss you so.
You've made my afternoon drives so very much more pleasant!

Six Word Fridays ~ Sure

When my heart leads the way,
my feet take me to the
water's edge. As the day fades
away, I melt easily into me.

When my heart leads the way,
that tiny sliver of time between
office and home stretches and sighs
and soothes every corner of me.

When my heart leads the way,
the golden light awaits, her surprises
sure to thrill my soul; her
glow reaching out to warm me.

When my heart leads the way,
wings and weeds and creepy things
catch my eye and fill my
lens. Their magic always dazzles me!

When my heart leads the way
to the water's edge, I come
empty and leave full...so many
rich, beautiful blessings showered on me.

Black & White Wednesday ~ Snow Day

When it snows,
some people go skiing or sledding or build a snow man.
My idea of "playing in the snow"
is taking wintery photos.
And playing with fun new iPhone apps!
This photo was taken on our snowy Tuesday of the diner across from my office!
Old school cute, and great food too!

The Waterlogue App                             The Sketch Guru App

This is a favorite macro I took earlier this winter of a teeny, tiny fading flower.
C'mon...
What could be more fun than turning a favorite photo
into a soft, watery painting or an artsy pencil sketch??!!

If you have some black and white photos in your post today,
please share your post here!

What do you see?

"It's not what you look at that matters,
it's what you see."
Henry David Thoreau

That simple, every day moment.
I gather my lunch and my purse, check the cell, pick up the keys and walk out the door.
Down the four side steps, across the the driveway... I head for the car.
The day is in full swing.
Skies are clear, the air is crisp and the sun warms me with its glow,
even if I can't feel its heat.
These are some of the most ordinary of moments.
I take the same few steps,
look at the same white fence, the leafless bushes and the old black car....just about every day.

Yesterday, my oh-so-ordinary steps were interrupted by the
stunning, artistic display of frost on the roof of my car!
There it was, catching the morning rays.
Gatsby-like, art deco fan patterns.
And feathers!
All waiting to greet me,
to remind me not just to look....
but to really see.

Black & White Wednesday ~ Lost

Lately, I've been lost.
oh, not in the "can't find my way home kind of way"
or the "clouded over, confused kind of way"
But, I have been lost.
Captivated.
Riveted.
Absorbed.
I've been wrapped up in a micro photography world.
Wowed, and wooed by the fuzzy buds already making an appearance at the end of tree branches.

Intrigued by the intricate veins in the fallen leaves that resurface from under the melting snow.

Enthralled by the end of a pine needle nestled in the moss on a frigid stone wall.

But the real magic.
My most favorite of all my lost-in-the-micro-magic moments lately...

...are the moments I've spent caught up in the fanciful beauty of these teeny, tiny dried flowers.

"To see the world in a grain of sand,
and to see heaven in a wild flower,
hold infinity in the palm of your hands,
and eternity in an hour."
William Blake

Fun with Macro!

A sweet friend gave me a lovely Christmas bouquet on the 24th.
I really love the cabbage flower don't you?!

Santa brought me a fun treat ... a macro lens for my iPhone.
{He may have purchased it here}
It's a simple little iPhone add on...and I've already had lots of fun experimenting with it!
Take a look!

and to see heaven in a wild flower,

I can't wait for the next snow fall so I can try and catch some individual flakes!
{best fifteen dollars Santa's spent in years!}
