Lingering

Letting go season is here.
The rains fall, the air has changed and the winds bluster.
Yet, as this tree shed her color,
one lone leaf
held
on.
Caught between what was and what will be.

Catching my eye, catching the late afternoon sun, I'm dazzled. I'm dismayed.
Tenacious? Stubborn?
Loyal? Enabling?
Persevering? Stuck?

How easy it seems to be
to hold on too long or
to let go too soon.
Most of the time it's just plain hard to know what's just right.

Life is salted by letting go seasons.
Beautiful, unsettling, inspiring and confusing letting go seasons.

  5. WOW!!! Love this...all that deep waxing philosophical from a lonely 'ol leaf. That's what BPM is all about my friend and you captured it eloquently.

For the record...I think the leaf is a badass and wants to stay up there all winter...it will never let go. :-)

  7. Maybe there isn't one "right." Sometimes things just ARE.

This strikes me today. Yes. I feel like that leaf. Often.

    Beautiful!

  9. So much here. I will need to read it again. Just the title and the photo together were enough to make me "linger"....very evocative.
And aren't you right...it seems all we do, all choices we must make are double sided. They can be our strengths or weaknesses all at once. Tenacious or stubborn.....you have posed just the question I have asked of myself on more than one occasion this year. Perhaps I am this little red leaf!
