Six Word Fridays ~ Yellow

Whether filling a field, a vanGogh
vase or Monet's country kitchen, the
sunniest of all the yellow flowers
never fails to warm my heart.

Standing Tall

"Go Big or Go Home"
American Author

I know I'm not alone in my love of sunflowers.
They never fail to bring a smile to my face.
Whenever I see them
I'm reminded to lift my chin up,
throw my shoulders back,
stand tall
and share the light.

Sunny Saturday

I wish that I could say
{each and every day}
that what I'm doing today
is wandering in
walking through
exploring
and
photographing
the world around me.

Happily for me,
I could say it yesterday because
I spent time with the flowers in the community garden behind my favorite pond.

One thing that photography has taught me about gardens,
and the flowers that bloom,
is that the inside of each bloom is an artistic wonder.

Of course the little creatures
{butterflies, birds and bees}
have always loved the insides of these colorful treats!
I caught many candid shots of this beauty enjoying her garden time.

Although,
I don't know about you,
but it looks to me like she might be posing for this shot!

The bees are, by far, the busiest and most numerous.
If I could speak "bee"
I'm sure all that buzzing would translate to
"yummy, yum, yum!"

There are few things that soothe me like
outdoor time
in beautiful spaces
flooded with natural light.
Especially when sunflowers are involved.
Heading off for another adventure in a little bit!
Happy Sunday, fellow bloggers!

I love sunflowers

When they are bright, and young and oh-so-yellow.

When they stand tall against the blue sky.

When they bow gently, humbly with the wind.

I LOVE SUNFLOWERS!
Most especially when they welcome their friends, the honey bees!

With or without perfect petals.

When yellow and blue meet green and black...and a little bit of brown.

As the soft petals begin to twist and curl in.

When yellow gives way to fall's orange gold.

I love sunflowers.
From stem to leaf to bud to flower.
As they bloom and as they fade away.
They never, ever fail to bring a smile to my face!

Community Garden

Those are good words, right?
Community.
Garden.
They're good words when they're on their own...
Put them together and you have better than good!
You have magic!

Yesterday, I wandered behind my favorite pond to this wonderful place.
Patches and fences
and flowers and vegetables....
And one guy who told me that if I wanted to take a photo of the
best looking thing in the garden
I should take a shot of him!
So I did, of course.
He also told me that for $30 one of these plots could be mine for next season...
Something to think about!!

For my amusement,
this beautiful blue heron
happened to be randomly hanging out in the garden
the whole time I was wandering through.
I got as close to him as I've ever been!

Don't even get me started on the sunflowers.
So. Much. Fun.
I was in heaven.
There were so so so many!
Don't worry, only gonna bore you with two photos of these beauties.
Today.
No promises for the rest of the week!

Happy Monday, Friends!

Yellow

If you want me to feel spoiled,
you can give me yellow flowers.
I fell in love with yellow roses when I was a kid
and Funny Girl sang Don't Rain on My Parade with yellow roses from Nick in her arms.
When I lived in Paris,
and tulips were everywhere during the winter months,
it was yellow tulips that stole my heart.
And then there are sunflowers.
There's nothing like their bright yellow against a bold, blue sky.

Sometimes my husband treats me to flowers.
He knows what I like.
But this time I just decided to spoil myself.
These beautiful yellow tulips,
which are currently keeping me company in the kitchen,
sure bring smiles on snowy, winter days!

A Blessing

I'm a lucky lady. On Friday, to kick off the weekend, I arrived home to see this pretty bouquet waiting for me in the kitchen. Thanks to the Irish, and the celebration of St. Patrick's day, a couple of these beauties had been dyed clover green. Now, I'm not Irish but I'm always happy to celebrate! This week I've been rejoicing with the extra daylight - like the light that was streaming through my kitchen window behind these flowers. And when my husband does a little something for me just because...Well, to me that's better than finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Especially when there are sunflowers involved.
