BOO!!

This guy was hanging out by my side door for a few weeks.
Swinging on a huge web.
Coming and going.
Catching flies and such.

And casting creepy shadows.

I was going to kick him out after the trick-or-treaters left...
But Sandy took care of that for me!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Saturday

"Don't walk behind me;
I may not lead.
Don't walk in front of me;
I may not follow.
Just walk beside me
and be my friend."
Albert Camus

Discovery.
Thanks to a new friend, yesterday I found myself heading north and following the signs... until I found a cozy cafe, a great cappuccino and a nice long chat.

Lingering.
Not wanting our hang time to end, we took off...my "machine" trailing hers...until we found a beach she loves. And lots of fog. We found lots and lots of fog!

Wild.
We walked along a nearly deserted beach...her bare feet at home in the familiar sand...my sneakered feet treading new ground. Surrounded by the natural grasses, dunes and rhythms of the sea, the only pattern I noticed was that of the old, weathered fence.

Solidarity.
We share a love of blogging. And writing. And family. And as we walked towards these rocks, sharing stories, we found plenty more common ground and I really enjoyed learning more about her!

Ghostly.
As we stood by the rocks, the first ship that passed by through the fog, appeared from nowhere and disappeared back to nothing. Slowly. We were glad we'd each seen it. Had we been alone we might have wondered if we were just imagining things!

Watching.
The second boat we saw sped by and seemed much more real. The sparkling water somehow managed to catch the sun's light through the thick fog. I really did feel like I was in a mystical, magical place.

Coffee. A beach. A walk. And a very long talk.
All the necessary ingredients for a really nice Saturday.

Foliage {Six Word Fridays}

More! More Color! More falling leaves!
I just cannot squeeze enough of
their incandescent glow into my day.
The reds are abundant - soft hues,
and deep rusty hues. Bright cranberry
and red-orange and red that's almost
purple...all fueled by an autumn
sun, set fire to the sky.

Lingering

Letting go season is here.
The rains fall, the air has changed and the winds bluster.
Yet, as this tree shed her color,
one lone leaf
held
on.
Caught between what was and what will be.

Catching my eye, catching the late afternoon sun, I'm dazzled. I'm dismayed.
Tenacious? Stubborn?
Loyal? Enabling?
Persevering? Stuck?

How easy it seems to be
to hold on too long or
to let go too soon.
Most of the time it's just plain hard to know what's just right.

Life is salted by letting go seasons.
Beautiful, unsettling, inspiring and confusing letting go seasons.

Shelter

settling down, leaning in, I
know stillness; while roots and core protect,
supple branches let in light

Knock, Knock...

Who's there?
Orange.

  Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Orange.

Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Orange!

Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Orange!!

Knock, knock.
Who's there?
ORANGE!!!

Sorry,
there's no punch line.
Just more beautiful orange.
From sun up to sun down
autumn is decorating my world.
And I LOVE it!

Sunday Morning

My husband and I took a walk.
The air was crisp and the sky went from bright blue to soft gray.
The leaves.
Oh the leaves.
Turning, falling, dancing...
putting on a wonderful show for us.

But I think it was the statues...
so still
so serene
standing tall
bowing gently
through years
and hundreds of seasons
Yes...
I think it was the statues that really caught my eye
and touched my heart.

So happy to be sharing these shots

Know your own bone;
gnaw at it,
bury it,
unearth it,
and gnaw it still."
Henry David Thoreau

I went hunting for all my pics
