A Simple Weekend

Today?
Christmas {finally} left the house.
The cards on the fridge were replaced by my familiar magnets - my French rolls always bring a smile.

Tonight?
I made tomorrow's breakfast...

...so that in the morning I can devote some time
to cracking open this year's array of
multi-colored journals.
It's time to start writing.

I think I'll begin by writing about these childhood photos
that my brother and I found this past week.

Washington D.C.
1973

Family vacation.

It's very odd to see my mom and dad together.
There are very, very few photos like this.
Don't know what we're looking at,
but I know that, of course, we couldn't possibly be seeing the future.

These photos are unsettling.
Nothing to dwell on, but most definitely something to consider.

Tomorrow night we celebrate! Friends will be joining us for a graduation party...
and any notion of my unsettled past will fade easily
as the warmth of my present surrounds me!

"Pick the day.
Enjoy it - to the hilt.
The day as it comes...
people as they come.
The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present -
and I don't want to spoil any of it
by fretting about the future."
Audrey Hepburn

  1. Today must have been the day for UNdecorating! I love your childhood photos. I know that whenever I look at mine I just wonder what we were thinking at that particular moment. Enjoy the Graduation party!

  2. enjoy the graduation celebration.

I really, really liked how you took the time to use the prompts to tell us a story. That was an awesome concept.

My 2nd ever hunt results are now posted if you'd care to join me.

  6. Oh, my! You and your brother just found those photos?!
I understand exactly how you feel when you say they're unsettling. But, still, they're pages of your history....
    Have a good Sunday, Adrienne!

  8. The hokey pokey IS what is all about. Now I'm gonna do the hokey pokey with the bambinos... after another cup of coffee.

And I adore the future picture. So stoic.
