They say laughter is the best medicine.
It's not, however, my usual go-to cure for what ails me. I tend to analyze, romanticize, withdraw or rationalize. Seriously, I'm mostly a serious gal. Lucky for me, I married a guy who really knows how to make me laugh. And who passed on his sense of humor to our kids.
Every once in a while, a day comes along, where {even to me} things are just humorous.
Today was one of those days.
After yesterday's snowfall, the few signs of spring we have seen around here were buried under a few inches of the white stuff. Buds and flakes covering the same branches. It's like nature was playing 'find the thing that doesn't belong' with me. I was enjoying the game, but not winning - that's for sure. And I found my self chuckling at the startling contradictions that seemed to jump out at me from everywhere.
Little did I know, nature was saving the best for last...the most humorous image for the end of the day.
Because watching seagulls pose on the snowy shore of a pond is just as funny as it looks in this photo. There they were. All together. Looking off in the same direction. Seagulls. Not at the shore. Not on the sand.
But standing on the snow.
In this whole 'so-frustrated-it's-still-really-winter' thing we've got going on here...this day - this scene - really helped me to laugh it off and let it go. A much needed, light-hearted day.
I guess it's true what they say...laughter is the best medicine.
"Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face."

Aw, poor seagulls! I love your photos--they're beautiful. I'm glad you can find ways to laugh. I need to do more of that!
ReplyDeleteOh, those seagulls! That would have made me laugh, too. I'm more than ready for Spring!
ReplyDeleteThey almost look photo shopped in! Poor guys. We have snow predicted for the rest of the week. Happy Spring Break, one and all!
ReplyDeleteyou have just the right balance of serious and fun!!
ReplyDeletethe first picture is gorgeous, the second one so funny!!!
they just want to hunker down and wait it out like we do..I just keep saying to myself it's beyond the middle of March now...it's got to end soon.
ReplyDeletePlease. Come here and help me play that game! lol. We're in for another snowstorm Sunday, and I desperately need to see this through the filter you saw your early spring snowstorm!
ReplyDeleteLove that first lovely picture with the red, by the way, Adrienne. So pretty!
I loved that picture. Seagulls in snow. Who knew?
ReplyDeletePoor silly birds... they probably are wondering why the sand became so cold. It is cracking me up (the birds not the ridiculous weather!)
ReplyDeleteMy husband makes me laugh too, and it's such a relief when I'm being too serious. Glad you found a laugh today!
ReplyDeleteThis was effervescent and just what I needed to read on another snowy spring day. Ha! Also- your photography just keeps on getting better and better. LOVE IT!

Interesting photo. And I don't think I've ever seen seagulls in the snow before either.
ReplyDeleteGlad it gave you a chuckle and lightened the day for you.
They look like a zombie army just waiting for the command to attack. It really is a good picture!

Gorgeous shots here on your blog! I'm enjoying tooling around!
ReplyDeletePS You can send some of your snow south for a day. We'll play in it and then it will melt the next day! ;)
