Six Word Fridays ~ Green

Under the towering oaks, my childhood
home stands proud. Older than old,
the oaks reign supreme. Providing shade...

...showering us with hundreds of acorns.

Under the towering oaks grow the
maples. The younger, less bothersome, maples.

Their twirling seeds float effortlessly, silently
down to play with the acorns.

Their green tips and stems and
veins are now beginning to surrender
to autumn's first kiss of color.

Under the towering oaks, and under
the changing maples is my favorite
Japanese magnolia. She was small when
we were small. Now her twisted
branches reach up past the roof.

From way under the towering trees,
we see the leaves beginning to
fade...announcing yet another changing season.
