As the tiny feather clings to the wildflower,
so winter lingers
persists
Our landscape is but
a trace of
the disappearing season
icy
gray
unmoved
I see everywhere the remains
last summer's empty nests
last fall's crisp leaves
and winter's crunchy snow
As the breeze plays with the feather
and I linger
I watch the gentle dance
forgotten feathers
fading flowers
relics
gentle reminders to celebrate what is
to not miss
what remains
as I look for signs of
what's to come
