"Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found
Just know you're not alone
'Cause I'm gonna make this place your home."
Phillip Phillips
As I've mentioned before, I'm not really one who loves to cook.
The kitchen and I have a love/hate relationship...
the crock pot and I, however, are best of friends!
This weekend I discovered a new crock pot recipe that
not only
cooked up one VERY tasty bird,
but filled the house with that comforting smell of
good home cooking.
Funny how certain foods and meals connect us to that
soothing sense of home.
As the holidays approach,
I am looking forward to traditional meals
and the gathering of friends and family.
My poor family
{especially my kids}
are wondering how the traditions of meals past are going to "feel"
now that gluten, dairy and processed sugar
have left the building!
So...
this month I have my work cut out for me!
The kitchen and I are going to continue to work on our
on again - off again relationship
as I try out some more new recipes.
I'm determined to
chase the demons,
alleviate all fears
and
make these healthier holidays
just as homey and traditional as ever!
This simple and delicious chicken recipe was a good beginning...
you really should give it a try!

Excellent song! And supper looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteLooks SO yummy! I think lemons make most anything tasty, so I know I would love this chicken. Good luck with the healthy meals. I've tried and we've actually had 2 kinds of everything for Thanksgiving (sweet potatoes with brown sugar and sweet potatoes with balsamic vinegar). This year, I'll try again :)
ReplyDeleteGuess who is performing in Huntington this week - yes, Phillip Phillips. Love this song and while I don't have a love/hate relationship with the kitchen, the stove/oven has given us a run for our money this year with one thing after another going kaput and needing repaired. In the mean-time, the slow-cooker has been my go-to for many meals. Good luck with the no gluten, dairy and processed sugar - that is a lofty proposal I'm not sure I would have the where-with-all to tackle. We do stay healthier, but have not ventured into the 'gluten free' fad.
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with the song but wowza your pictures are gorgeous. I recently made a chicken in the oven with various herbs, rosemary being one of them and it was delicious. I have a cookbook I'm reviewing. I however took a phone picture of it, hmmm. Your lighting is divine in your kitchen too. I'm sorry to hear you have such restrictions in your diet. We have one daughter on low salt and I think that is hard.
ReplyDeleteOh, yum! I've been doing a roast chicken in the crockpot almost weekly lately so I'll have to try this one. Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely shots of this inviting looking food!
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks delicious! I too have a love/hate relationship with the kitchen. Getting someone to help out with prepping gets me more motivated every time!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, perfect song choice. And, I might add, a song that is on my "short list" for future possibilities. So, ya might see it again. Chicken, lemon and rosemary...does ANYTHING make your house smell as wonderful cooking as THIS?!? I think not :). Thanks for linking up to Song-ography.
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing!! I printed out the recipe as you can never have too many chicken, crock pot, easy recipes that taste yummy!! Thanks for sharing the recipe!!
ReplyDeleteOh that looks delicious!! I will have to try it ;) Hope your holidays will be grand, even with no gluten or sugar!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing on Dream.Create.Inspire! ;)
