Reflections

A good walk in the woods is food for the soul.
After the rains,
on a clear day,
the air is so refreshing.
And there are reflections to be found everywhere!
This puddle gives just a hint of all those I'd find as I wandered.

Few things delight like glassy waters on a clear day!
If you've visited here before,
you know I love catching shots of this random, dead tree from all angles.

And this shot?
Straight out of the camera!
I'm in love with the water color "effect" of the actual water!
No app needed!

I don't know how much fun this lone duck was having...
but he was hanging out on this fallen log under the red bridge for quite some time.
All sorts of reflections going on here.

I love the double meaning of the word reflection.
I'm literally stopped in my tracks each time I find the sky reflected in the water.
But it's all the time of self-reflection,
meditation,
prayer,
thought sorting
and
letting go
that make my journeys around the pond so meaningful.
I try very hard in life to be
"quick to listen,
slow to speak,
and slow to become angry."
And the older I get, the more I know that I don't know.
Which is, I believe, as it should be if we're really listening in this life.

I stumbled across this quote the other day:

"Without reflection, we go blindly on our way,
creating more unintended consequences,
and failing to achieve anything useful."
Margaret J. Wheatley

Food for thought these days, don't you think?

  6. Beautiful words and images. Been self-reflecting a lot this month myself. Some of it painful, but always just what is needed to grow!
