Black & White Wednesday ~ Treasure

While trying not to slip on the ice,
I strolled through a quiet neighborhood this afternoon.
The air was chilly, and the sun was bold, so wandering was possible!

It was these dried buds that caught my eye.

Though the flowery, leafy beauty seems a distant memory,
I loved the open, reaching petals
and the withered, folded buds.
Such drama.
But the real surprise came as I focused inside...
as I looked into the heart of each bud.

Still clinging on to the pods that protect them
were some delicate seeds.
Seeds meant to catch the wind, to fly.
Seeds still hidden....waiting.

Fascinating!
Each little seed so pretty!
{I couldn't help but notice how much they looked like teensy sunflowers}

Don't you love discovering hidden treasure!

  15. I too thought the seeds looked like small sunflowers. The buds and seeds add natural texture to the beautiful shots.
