"Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind.
Do this, don't do that,
Can't you read the sign?"
Five Man Electrical Band

I remember when this song came out.
My brother (that's him below in the blue hood and dark glasses) and I used to
sing it out loud...and proud!
When this song was shared as the theme for this weeks Song-ography,
I thought of the photos I took at Fenway Park this February.
(I've shared some of them before...they just fit Kathy's theme so well this week)
We took a tour of Fenway with my brother and his wife. In the snow, remember?!
There are signs all over the place in the ballpark...
but somehow,
instead of blocking the scenery,
they are a part of the scenery in our historic ballpark!

The iconic Citgo sign - even with these bright smiles, and the snow, you can't miss it!

Even famous streets need signs!

When you post rules in the visitors' locker room,
they have to be posted in many different languages....including Japanese!

The back halls aren't as "fancy" as the public walkways...but there are still signs!

Some signs are just decorative - like this one, made of legos!

My favorite signs in the park are those that are painted on the original brick.
 I love the old brick.
And I love these painted signs.

The neon signs,

the billboards, and the Green Monster signs
seem as much a part of the architecture of this place as the seats and the field.

if we could just see some signs of spring...
we could dust this place off

Joining Kathy and friends for

  1. Sure enjoyed this walk in the 'park' with you!
Love the shot of the seats!

  2. The photos of Fenway Park are wonderful. Reminds me of my STL Cardinals and how we got whopped at the end of the series last fall. :-)

  3. It looks so quiet there in the snow! That last shot was beautiful.

  4. You found quite a collection of signs! My favorites are those on the brick wall, too. They have such character. The Lego sign is cool, too. Your photography is just beautiful!

The lego wall is wicked!!! Even in the snow - Fenway is a sign of hope that spring will come (0:

  6. Hi Adrienne,
I sing along loud and proud to this song, too! Peace shots of Fenway in winter. My two faves are the first one with your peeps and the one of the seats.
    Happy Sunday to you!

  7. The Lego one is great! My boys would really enjoy that. I can think of some signs that really evoke a sense of time or vintage Coca-Cola signs.

  8. Love the LEGO sign, would look great in my boys´rooms! :-)

  9. This is a great tour of Fenway. That Citgo sign guided me home many times.

  10. Awesome images Adrienne, of a place you hold so dear!!

  11. Hehehe - '...a sign of spring...' - love that last paragraph. The pictures are awesome, too. Never been to a baseball game yet.

  12. Fabulous post. While I'm not much of a Baseball fan I would enjoy just being at the stadium and viewing those wonderful signs. I'm with you on the ones painted on the bricks, really cool looking. So was the Lego one.

  13. Great shots and I love the Lego sign. :) Lego always makes me think of my son. :)

  14. Fabulous! I adore the signs on the brick walls. Actually, I just adore everything about Fenway. I took a tour there a couple of years ago my goal is to actually experience a game there. You can FEEL the history in that stadium. Thank you for sharing at Song-ography.

  15. oh such fabulous photos of Fenway Park!! Love the signs painted on the brick wall the best!
