Signs!!

"Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind.
Do this, don't do that,
Can't you read the sign?"
Five Man Electrical Band

I remember when this song came out.
My brother (that's him below in the blue hood and dark glasses) and I used to
sing it out loud...and proud!
When this song was shared as the theme for this weeks Song-ography,
I thought of the photos I took at Fenway Park this February.
(I've shared some of them before...they just fit Kathy's theme so well this week)
We took a tour of Fenway with my brother and his wife. In the snow, remember?!
There are signs all over the place in the ballpark...
but somehow,
instead of blocking the scenery,
they are a part of the scenery in our historic ballpark!

The iconic Citgo sign - even with these bright smiles, and the snow, you can't miss it!

Even famous streets need signs!

When you post rules in the visitors' locker room,
they have to be posted in many different languages....including Japanese!

The back halls aren't as "fancy" as the public walkways...but there are still signs!

Some signs are just decorative - like this one, made of legos!

My favorite signs in the park are those that are painted on the original brick.
 I love the old brick.
And I love these painted signs.

The neon signs,

the billboards, and the Green Monster signs
seem as much a part of the architecture of this place as the seats and the field.

Now,
if we could just see some signs of spring...
we could dust this place off
and
PLAY BALL!

  2. The photos of Fenway Park are wonderful. Reminds me of my STL Cardinals and how we got whopped at the end of the series last fall. :-)

  6. Hi Adrienne,
I sing along loud and proud to this song, too! Peace shots of Fenway in winter. My two faves are the first one with your peeps and the one of the seats.
    Happy Sunday to you!

  7. The Lego one is great! My boys would really enjoy that. I can think of some signs that really evoke a sense of time or place....like vintage Coca-Cola signs.

  12. Fabulous post. While I'm not much of a Baseball fan I would enjoy just being at the stadium and viewing those wonderful signs. I'm with you on the ones painted on the bricks, really cool looking. So was the Lego one.
