Never Too Late

as i walk
a new path,
each and every day,
shedding so many old ways,
i seek understanding

when the clouds hang low
and cover the landscape
of my mind;
shadows win...
i loose heart

one step
and then another;
feeling my way,
senses alert...my body unsure,
unsteady,
but still i take another step

and then
there it is

the light
the warm, clarifying, spectacular light

it appears but briefly
ever so swiftly breaking through;
bringing with it just enough strength
enough hope to believe 
its not too late

and to keep me 
moving forward along the new path...
guiding me through understanding
towards 
healing
