The Teen Years

Mama swan, who birthed seven babies this spring,
has two young ones who've made it to the teen years.

Some of their new white feathers are starting to show through!

Like most teens, they sleep...

...and eat.

On this beatufiulf day,
the family hangs together on one edge of the pond
until dad decides to take off on his own.
Leaving mom to look after the kiddos...

...so he can pose proudly for me on the other side of the pond.

  1. So lovely...the process of turning into the beautiful swan when once they were "ugly ducklings." Quite the metaphor for life.

  5. Funny pic-caption for "sleep!" The family looks healthy and strong. I hope they all survive the coming winter. Do swans migrate?
