Free to Remember

Chicken on the grill as the sun set off our back deck on Saturday.

The day was spent baking cookies,

running errands,

playing with a sweet baby,

watching a college soccer game,

celebrating a four year old's birthday

and sitting quietly with my husband for the evening.

The flags were at half-mast

in the town centers

and over the soccer field.

Because we do remember.

Because we choose to remember.

Because we are free to remember.
