Look What I Made! {3}

It's crock pot season!
And my Pinspiration is going strong.
One of my goals for 2014 is to try a new recipe or craft each week...
so stay tuned!

This chicken tortilla soup got rave reviews from the men in my life.
{and I loved it too!}
You can find the recipe HERE
{I added rice because I had some left over...and I'll do that when I make it again}

Yup. This was GOOD.

Over the weekend, I took a very quick trip to Philadelphia.
There was a group of people from New England that all traveled to my home town
for the memorial service of a dear friend.
At the invitation of her family,
we were flown down and back on a private jet.
This was a first for me.
It was odd to have such a "ritzy" experience in the context of something so sad.
Totally RANDOM.
{if I'm being honest....it's a really nice way to travel!}

While I was gone,
we got snow in Boston.

Once the sun came out on Sunday,
I took my iPhone outside and used my Easy-Macro lens to catch these shots.
Ice and pine needles.
Yes, it's true.
I'm having way too much FUN with this silly iPhone macro lens!!

Look What I Made {2}

I played with glitter
and made some New Years cards.

I've never made anything with glitter before - don't like how messy it is!
But when I was in a store a few months ago, and saw some lovely photo cards which had been decorated with glitter, I knew I had to give it a try!
The idea is simple enough.
Choose a favorite photo,
outline a few spots you'd like to highlight with a fine point glue pen,
and sprinkle, sprinkle sprinkle!

When the glue dries,
I used a make up brush to get rid of the excess.

It's wonderful to be inspired by the crafts and art and writings around me!
I enjoy trying new things...I'll be back to play with glitter some more.
I'm thinking swan photos would be be lovely with added sparkles!
Happy New Year
and
Happy Monday, friends!

Look What I Made {1}

As has been sung...
"the weather outside is frightful!"
Which means that inside, we're wanting warm, comforting food.
And...
my husband LOVES brussel sprouts!
Now, I'm going to confess to you all that in almost 30 years, I have never fixed sprouts for him.
I know. Shameful.
So, when I came across THIS RECIPE on one of my favorite blogs
I knew I had to give it a try!

I bought the sprouts...really kinda cute, don't ya think!?!

I quartered them and prepped them.

And added all the other goodies!
{I used Feta cheese, instead of blue...cause I'm not a blue cheese gal}

The dish was a great treat on New Years Day.
I discovered who in the family likes sprouts (other than my husband, that is)
and who likes cranberries, walnuts and feta.
It was so funny - some liked the add ins, and some liked the sprouts.
Everyone loved the flavor.
And, I think that I might have liked the dish most of all!
